Unidad didáctica : INVENTIONS

Curso: 4º ESO

Materia: Inglés

Profesor : Concepción Osorio Moratalla

Justificación: En el mundo actual existen infinidad de instrumentos y “gadgets”  de los que no solemos plantearnos como están hechos, como funcionan y si en el futuro serán reemplazados por otros. Invitamos a los alumnos a aprender a describirlos, interpretar instrucciones y formularlas y hasta ver objetos sin sentido y crear un invento imaginario que solucione nuestros problemas.

Objetivos: Adquirir el vocabulario y las estructuras para hacer descripciones de objetos, dar instrucciones y aconsejar el uso de un determinado producto.

Cada nivel debe hacer las actividades del nivel inferior, si bien la forma de hacerlo puede ser modificada en función de las necesidades de cada alumno y situación.

   Artículos de inventos sorprendentes ( trabajo individual)

Nivel 2. LA MAYORÍA
Activity 1	-Passive Voice -Imperatives	- Copy the grammar charts -Do textbook exercises p. 42,43 - Write instructions of everyday objects like a broom, a chair or a pencil sharpener.
Activity 2	- Vocabulary - Adjective word order	- Read, pronounce and copy (p.39,41) - Description of everyday objects. - Learn vocabulary related to shape, material, colour...
Nivel 3. ALTAS CAPACIDADES/RENDIMIENTO
Activity 1	Expand vocabulary	-Find information among your family and friends, and describe an object or tool that is not used anymore.

Objetivo: Create an imaginary invention

Nivel 2. LA MAYORÍA
Activity 1	Deduce or imagine the possible uses of every object and read about them.	- View the objects on the website Impossible Objects by Carelman - Show some of the objects and ask to describe their use. - Read the description on the website.
Activity 2	Create an imaginary invention	- In groups of 4 or 5 create the invention, write a description together with a picture of the object. -Then write the instructions of use of this new object.

Objetivo: make an advertisement

Nivel . 2 y 3
Activity 1	Write the script of a TV advertisement	- In the same groups, write the script of an advert of the invention created by the group before.
Activity 2	Learn the pronunciation and do speaking activity	- Find the pronunciation of the new words - Rehearse the advert - Prepare all the materials for the recording. - Record the advert. - Edit it (optional).
Activity 3	Watch and evaluate	- Watch the adverts. - Comment the strong points and weaknesses of each recorded advert

Objetivo: Write a report on a new invention

Nivel 2. LA MAYORÍA
Activity 1	Find information and write a report	-Give the students a list of websites. -Find about a new invention in the press. - Report the important facts. - Give the sources of information.
Nivel 3. ALTAS CAPACIDADES/RENDIMIENTO
Activity 1	Deepen the understanding	- Write a personal analysis  as an addition to the report of the invention:      . Will that invention become popular and extended in its used in the future?      . Will it be really useful? Why?
